About Us
A directorate of minorities with a vision to enable all the minority groups to lead a productive life with equal opportunities ensuring Socio-Economic Justice & equality & to promote their own literature, culture, peace & harmony came into existence in 1999-2000.

As per 2001 census the population of Religious Minorities in Karnataka is as follows.

The population of Religious minorities is 15.69% of the total population of the state. Muslims, Christians, Jains, Buddhists, Sikhs and Parsis in Karnataka are considered as religious minorities.
In the Government order No. SWD –BCA 94, dated 17.09.1994 following religious minorities are classified in various Backward groups and are provided reservation in education and employment under Article 15 (4) and 16 (4) of the constitution.
